This course meets and exceeds the NFPA 1670 and 1006 Standards
The Ice Rescue Technician (IRT) course is for emergency responders.
Your team members will learn, become competent, and obtain international certification over three days of training with professional instructors.
This course is hands-on and practical. Responders will get multiple ‘at bats’ using ice rescue equipment and techniques.
The progression includes:
- assessing ice conditions
- partner rescue
- team rescues
- rescues using commercial equipment such as RDC (rapid deployment craft), long ropes, and ice-immersion suits
Note: the 3-day IRT course includes rescues for large volume lakes, rivers, and coastline with open leads. However, for technicians responding to calls around or in fast-moving water, Swiftwater Rescue Technician certification is a mandatory co-requisite.
This 3-day certification course is for rescue teams and fire departments. If you’re an individual looking for a course, you can join a ‘public’ 2-day Ice Safety and Rescue (ISR) course
